A catalog is only useful to a marketplace if it maps cleanly onto that marketplace's own category tree.
Families before categories
The KSAVendor catalog is grouped into broad families — consumer electronics, mobile and accessories, home and kitchen, beauty and personal care, fashion, baby, sports, health, office, tools, automotive, pet, grocery, toys, furniture, perfumes and oud, gaming, and packaging supplies — before it is broken into the 526+ working categories underneath.
Why the mapping step matters
Every marketplace names and nests categories differently. Mapping our tree onto theirs during onboarding is what allows a bulk upload to land in the right places instead of a support queue.
Depth versus breadth
Some families are deep and shallow-margin, others narrow and high-margin. A partner platform usually starts with two or three families, proves the cycle, then expands.
Availability is part of the catalog
A SKU that cannot be replenished is not really in the catalog. Live availability is tracked per item and shared with the partner so listings can be paused rather than oversold.
